What the Patient Shouldn’t Do?
Avoid foods requiring prolonged chewing and avoid excessive facial movements for one week.
Do not blow your nose. You may sniff back gently. No sexual activities are recommended. You shouldn't smoke.
You should do no vigorous exercise and should avoid any significant physical exertion, lifting or straining for a minimum of 3 weeks after your surgery.
The recovery period following a nose job (rhinoplasty) in Turkey can vary depending on the individual and the complexity of the surgery. In the first 2-3 days, patients usually stay in the clinic for monitoring. They may experience mild to moderate discomfort, which is managed with prescribed pain medications.
The nasal splint is typically removed after one week. After 2-3 months 2-3 the majority of the swelling subsides, and the nose looks more refined. Full recovery can take up to a year, with the final shape of the nose becoming apparent as all residual swelling disappears.
The scarring normally depends on the type of rhinoplasty. During a closed rhinoplasty all incisions for are made inside of the nostrils. This ensures that after the operation there is no visible scarring.
But during an open rhinoplasty a small incision is made across the strip of tissue dividing the nostrils. This can leave a small scar, although it isn’t usually visible to other people.
Most patients feel well enough to return to work and other normal routines at around the two-week mark. However, this timeline varies based on the extent of the surgery and on the health of the patient. 14 days after the surgery patients can participate in the light activities like short and slow walks, light household chores, and driving if you feel comfortable and are not taking pain medication.
While it is safe to resume exercise after four weeks, we still advise patients to avoid activities that increase their risk of injury or trauma, such as contact sports.
