Rest and avoid sudden neck movements. Elevate your head while sleeping to reduce swelling, bruising and discomfort. Take pain and antibiotics medicine as directed. Apply cold compresses to reduce swelling.
During recovery, patients should take their medication and clean their incisions. Walk gently to improve circulation but avoid strenuous activities. You should also wear a compression garment.
Around the end of the first week, patients should attend follow-up appointments with their surgeon. You can gradually resume light activities.
You can resume most daily activities. However, high-intensity exercise, heavy lifting, and activities that strain the neck should still be avoided. Patients can begin moisturizing the incision area as recommended and must continue to protect it from sun exposure.
By the first month, you can reintroduce more active exercises, like cardio, after consulting with the surgeon. Gentle skincare around the neck area is encouraged. You need to monitor unusual swelling or discomfort and report any concerns to the surgeon.
